Objectives
The Belgian Euro-Atlantic Youth aims to inform and create discussion regarding international topics that appear central on the agenda of world leaders and (academics) decision makers. Following the above, the Belgian Euro-Atlantic Youth organises on a regular basis high level conferences and insightful debate nights and puts at disposition an interactive website with useful information. Furthermore, by providing its members the opportunity to participate in international seminars and conferences, the Belgian Euro-Atlantic Youth offers young people the chance to establish networks and to be in direct contact with international politics first hand.
The aim of our conferences and debate nights is to focus on questions related to the dynamics of international organisations such as NATO, the European Union or the United Nations. They equally address threats such as terrorism or global warming but also challenges with regard to the energy question, to name but a few. By inviting several high level personalities and experts from various fields, we provide the opportunity for our audience to gain information highlighting different points of views and testimonies. The latter enables our audience to bring forth a broader view on the respective topics and to assess a well-founded opinion.
Furthermore, our website represents another important tool in providing our members and other visitors with firsthand information. It offers access to relevant documents and speeches, links to multiple national and international organizations and serves as a ‘meeting point’ (…) for people that share an interest in international politics.
Moreover, the Belgian Euro-Atlantic Youth values the importance to render its members the chance to participate in international events. These include simulation exercises or seminars on relevant topics, mostly organised by YATA or one of its national divisions. These events enable young people to profit from the chance to travel, to exchange views with other people from different backgrounds as well as establishing networks that may benefit the interests of the person concerned. As such, the Euro-Atlantic Youth contributes in helping the youth acquiring more experiences, enhance and promote dialogue and stimulates the exchange and assessment of ideas and opinions.
